Sydney {Chihuahua cross} - ADOPTED

Sydney is the other dog we saved from the Beverly Hills shelter.

She is a 2 year old chihuahua cross just over 15 pounds.

She is super friendly and does great with other dogs and kids.

She isn't as wild as these pictures make her look.  We could only get pictures when she was racing around because when she stopped she was stuck to me like glue.  Or rather she was stuck to my pocket holding the treats!  Her favourite pass time is snuggling on the couch, but she too was pretty happy for a chance to stretch her legs in the field.

Sydney listens very well and is eager to please.  She is good off leash and comes when called.  She will chase cats if they start to run, but she'll stop instantly when you ask her to.

Sydney would make a great addition to any family.

And in case you've been wondering, yes... she does always have that wild look in her eyes!  LOL.

For more information on Sydney, please contact the Windy City Canine Rescue at info@windycityrescue.com or by calling 403-359-3139.

Peanut {Jack Russell Cross} - ADOPTED

It happened again.  It only took about 2 minutes before I was smitten.  This time with Peanut.  It took all my will power to not scoop him up and take him home with me.

Peanut came to us from a kill shelter in Beverly Hills.  He has made a very long journey to find happiness.  When we let him down in the field (along with Sidney another dog from the same place that you'll meet tomorrow) he was soooo happy.  Just look at him run.

Peanut is a two year old terrier cross. He does great with other dogs, is pretty interested in cats (but would probably do OK with a dog savvy cat with a bit of work) and is housetrained and crate trained.

His big ears are up most of the time, but the left one occasionally does this cute little flop that I just loved.

Peanut loves to snuggle and give kisses but can be a little shy to start.  He would be better in a home with older (or calmer) children as sudden quick movements can make him nervous.  He is currently being fostered with a dog savvy five year old boy and they are getting along great.

Peanut is a total ham and is very playful.  He loves toys and can be trusted off leash. These pictures all show him trailing a leash as they had literally arrived that day and we weren't sure how much we could trust him yet!

If you or someone you know, would like to adopt Peanut, please contact us!

For more information on Peanut, please contact the Windy City Canine Rescue at info@windycityrescue.com or by calling 403-359-3139.

Bark in the Park

We all had a great time at Bark in the Park today!  We got to meet and talk with lots of people and most importantly so did the rescue pups!

Bo, Piper, Ellie and Finn were all on hand to do give out kisses and tail wags.

There were tonnes of fun demos to watch and great contests to enter.

There were lots of great dogs to visit with.  Some came dressed for the party, others met up with old friends.

And there were some familiar faces from the past too!

We managed to fundraise almost $1,000 today!!  Thanks to M&M Meats for doing the BBQ, Park Pet, NOKA, Pet Parade, Paws on the Run and Tail Blazers for coming to provide great information and a fun shopping experience.  Thanks to everyone who donated something for the raffle table!!  There were a tonne of great prizes and there were lots of people walking away happy that they had won.  We'll have a list of all the great companies that donated prizes posted soon.  The list is so long, we need to double check it so we don't forget anyone!  We really appreciate the support we receive from the community.  We couldn't help as many dogs as we do without it.

And last but not least, thanks to everyone who came out today to support the rescue.  We hope you had as good a time as we did!  We'll see you next year for Bark in the Park 3.

Water Hound - ADOPTED

To say that Marley likes the hose, is a bit of an understatement.

Marley will literally spend hours playing with the sprinkler.

It actually works out pretty good - water your lawn AND exercise your dog!  You get two for the price of one.

For more information on Marley, please contact the Windy City Canine Rescue at info@windycityrescue.com or by calling 403-359-3139.

Bo {Terrier Cross} - ADOPTED

Bo is a medium sized, terrier cross who is about 50 lbs. He has been loved his whole life but sadly, his mom has a terminal illness and can no longer care for him.

Bo is loves people, kids, dogs and other cats. His only bad habit is jumping up when he greets you.

Bo loves to play and can easily be enticed into a game of keep away, tug, or wrestling. But he also loves to cuddle. Once you settle in for the evening on the couch, he is right there with you - sweet, mellow and loving.

Bo is great off leash and will turn on a dime when you call his name even when other people or dogs are around.

Bo is an active dog and will require an active family, couple or person who is willing to provide him with daily on or off leash walks.

For more information on Bo, please contact the Windy City Canine Rescue at info@windycityrescue.com or by calling 403-359-3139.
