Abby Outtakes - ADOPTED

When you love toys as much as Abby you sometimes need to make sacrifices.... like kicking your tongue out of your mouth when you need to make more room.

This is her look of dismay when she thinks you aren't going to throw the ball....

And then she realizes you were just joking...

For more information on Abby, please contact the Windy City Canine Rescue at info@windycityrescue.com or by calling 403-359-3139.

Jaxon {Black Lab} - ADOPTED

Jackson is your typical lab...

He is fun and playful....

Goofy and charming....

...and friendly to a fault.  He hasn't met a person he hasn't liked and wanted to play with!

Some times "life happens" and that pretty much is what happened to Jaxon.  His parents had some changes in their lives, and they decided that Jaxon needed more time than they were able to give.  So of no fault of his own, Jaxon has ended up in rescue.

Jaxon is good with other dogs, kids and cats.  He is housetrained but does need some work on his leash manners.  He is only 11 months old so he is like a puppy without the mess! Jaxon would do great in a busy household but would also settle nicely in a quieter one provided he got some daily romps at the park.  If you think he is the dog for you, please drop us a line.

For more information on Jaxon, please contact the Windy City Canine Rescue at info@windycityrescue.com or by calling 403-359-3139.

Abby {Cattle Dog Cross} - ADOPTED

Abby is a cattle dog (or blue heeler) cross.  She was found just running loose and being the friendly gal that she is, hopped into someone's car when they stopped to help her.

Despite the rescuers' best efforts, they were unable to find her owners so we have to assume she was abandoned.

We are guessing that she is young (about a year old) and we KNOW that she loves to play.  Grab a toy and this girl will follow you anywhere!

She is great with kids and while interested in cats she doesn't act aggressively towards them. She also loves to play with other dogs and of course play fetch!

Abby would make a great family dog and would love to be surrounded by kids, dogs and toys!

For more information on this dog, please contact the Windy City Canine Rescue at info@windycityrescue.com or by calling 403-359-3139.

Super Friday - ADOPTED

We've discovered that Friday has super powers.

She can melt hearts with a single glance...

She can make you want to take her home with you after spending only 5 minutes in her company (she tried to used this super power on me, and only a would-be-cranky-husband at home allowed me to counter act her spell).

She can manipulate the camera into only capturing her good side - either that, or every side is a good side.

She can leap 3 stairs in a single bound.

She can entertain herself (and you) with a simple rope toy all night.

She is quite possibly the cutest puppy ever and she will have you wrapped around her paw faster than you can say "Wanna go for a walk?"

Oh and if you are like me, her super powers made you think she was actually quite large... she isn't.  She is actually pretty small.  She looks kind of like a lab in miniature.  She is well proportioned, just small.

For more information on Friday, please contact the Windy City Canine Rescue at info@windycityrescue.com or by calling 403-359-3139.

Living Life to the Fullest

Mya (ADOPTED) has been with the rescue for a few months and we aren't really sure why there hasn't been much interest in her.

She has really blossomed at her foster home.  She is so relaxed and content in her home environment.

She would make an incredible companion for an active person.  If you are looking for a running or biking partner, Mya is your gal!  She will match you stride for stride for as long as you want.  Her foster home thinks she would make a great dog for skijoring too.

She is eager to please and is a very fast learner and will work for either food or toys.

She is loving, funny and a pleasure to be around.  If you think she is the dog for you, please don't hesitate to set up a meeting.  She's waiting.

For more information on this dog, please contact the Windy City Canine Rescue at info@windycityrescue.com or by calling 403-359-3139.

JD {Cocker Spaniel x Poodle} - ADOPTED

JD is still looking for the perfect home, and is just as adorable as ever!  She is adjusting well to her new life, but hopes that someone out there soon will want to take her in forever, as she becomes attached very quickly.  She would probably do best in a home with one or two adults who are not away for long periods. She would be ok with other dogs, but would not be a play partner – she just ignores them – so she would prefer not to have to share the attention.

Because of her age (she’ll turn 12 in September), she would like a very low key house where she can lounge around like the princess that she is, go for short walks and spend the rest of the day following her owner around.

She loves to cuddle, and will need to sleep on the bed.  If it’s too high for her to jump, she will whine until you lift her up (a small step will solve that problem).  She is in very good health and loves to spend time outside, as long as her owner is with her.  She loves to give kisses, play fetch, and loves treats.  She will occasionally bark as people pass by, or bark to get your attention, but is otherwise perfect!!!

She was a perfect angel for the first 12 years of her life (her owner recently had to move to a senior’s home) and is very deserving of a good home – all she wants is a small space on your bed and in your heart.

For more information on this dog, please contact the Windy City Canine Rescue at info@windycityrescue.com or by calling 403-359-3139.
